For challenging applications, we employ sensor fusion. This approach integrates multiple sensor types to capture richer data, enabling holistic analysis of target objects.

Sensor Fusion
Sensor fusion is the process of merging data from multiple sensors to create a more accurate conceptualization of the target scene or object. This is how human beings perceive the physical world. Before any decision is made, our body is provided with sensory information through our peripheral nervous system. The information our nerve system picks up including vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, etc.  The brain uses these sources of sensory input to validate an event and to make a decision.

How Sensor Fusion helps out machine vision?
Machine vision systems, despite their varied applications, share a core objective: to analyze an object's state through observation. However, traditional systems are inherently limited—they rely solely on 2D imaging, capturing only partial data. Sensor fusion overcomes this constraint by integrating multi-modal sensor inputs (e.g., laser scanners, tactile sensors, and CCD cameras), enabling comprehensive 3D surface and structural analysis alongside 2D imaging.
